Introduction to a Simple Celebration Cake

This cake class is designed to give students an introduction into the basics of decorating a six inch round cake using ingredients, decorations and equipment easily found in the supermarket. The idea is you will learn how to get great effects without the need for lots of specialist equipment.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to fill, crumb coat and cover a six inch round cake. You will also learn to create simple decorations to make your cake look fabulous, including a fondant bow and simple sugar flowers. In addition you will be taught some basic piping techniques.

In addition, you will be given an information pack with recipes, tips and advice to take away with you so you can practice what you have learned at home.

Who is the course suitable for?

This is cake class is a great and easy introduction into cake decorating and is ideal for students with little or no previous experience. All techniques will be taught from the ground up. We encourage you to work and learn at your own pace – we will give guidance where needed and back off when not. We also encourage you to ask as many questions about techniques and methods as you like, after all you are here to learn and us to teach!

What do I need to bring?

Nothing except your enthusiasm! All materials are provided for you during the class.

How long does the class last?

Classes start at 9.30am and run to approximately 4pm with a half hour break for lunch. Class takes place at Brighton and Hove Sixth Form College, Dyke Road, Brighton
